Fine Art America / ArtistWebsites Review
July 7, 2012 by Les Palenik
Worth a try. I wonder if people actually sell stuff there.
Yes, they do sell, but not in millions. Of course, some artists (or some art prints) sell more than others. And some buyers will purchase stuff that we wouldn’t. When you register, you can see what sells on the site everyday.
Mind you, many sales are driven by direct advertising by the sellers. Self-promotion and networking help a lot.
But even if you don’t sell anything, it’s a very inexpensive way to showcase your art portfolio.
Hi Les,
It’s been a little over 3 months since you wrote up this blog post, how have sales been through the Fine Art America website so far?
Well, so far, the sales have been disappointing.
As pointed out in the previous comment, unless you have in your portfolio exceptional artwork, you’ll have to drive your sales through direct marketing campaigns and networking. Also, paintings seem to sell better here than photographs.
The website says to pay by credit card. Dont they accept Paypal to setup the website, and if not why not.
I didn’t have any problems with Paypal. Possibly, it was just a temporary hiccup on Paypal side?
